Having a specialty drink is fun and personal but having your two favorite things (well my two favorite things) in one is a true gift to share with your guest.

A “proprietary blend of red varietals” mixed with dark chocolate, it checks in at 12.5% alcohol. There are three varieties: Chocolate Red, Creme de Cocoa, and Chocolate Strawberry Red.

It’s a nice addition to the bar at your wedding and sure to be topic of conversation when your guest tells your wedding stories to others!

We are gearing up for spring weddings and we are often asked for something (anything!) in chocolate.

One of our favorite wedding ideas is to create a chocolate shop, as a sweet and memorable touch to end the event.

The Truffles

We suggest setting up trays with the bride and grooms favorite truffle flavors, offering no less then 6 flavors -to ensure there is something for everyone! Each truffle should have it’s own tray, labeled with a card in front (as you would see in a chocolate shop). Of course you can go with the traditional truffle names – or create fun truffle names from the wedding theme, the bride and groom’s favorite things, etc. Remember to get a great selection – of milk and dark chocolate truffles…we also like to include at least one white truffle. Try to shop local, for handmade fresh truffles where the chocolatier uses local ingredients. *

The Boxes

The boxes, the bags – the memory of your wedding! Personalized and reflective of the bride and groom – the boxes/bags should be at one side of the table. Each guest gets a box – and then selects their 2-3 or 4 truffles to take home. The box/bag should be personalized either embossed, with a sticker – or a ribbon to remember the fun evening. Another great idea is to have a card, with the ribbon going through it, with a little thank you and the date of your wedding. As for the boxes, there are se many beautiful boxes out there – or you can create your own!

* Note: For winter weddings we also like to suggest creating s’mores or hot chocolate packages.

I was recently asked to be a guest blogger for the Chocolate Nation www.thechocolatenation.com and share some of my tips for Winter Weddings and holiday parties. Heres a preview of select tips I will feature each Friday during the month of December.

Tip number 1 – is one of those that should always be remembered for any event.

#1 Stay true to who you are…

#2 Winter weddings and events do not always have to be mean white. Feel free to add a fall color as part of your bridal party, flowers or just that pop, in shoes. Shades of blue can also add to that cool feel of winter.

#3 Treat your female guests to pashmina shawls – the men to scarves. This is the perfect gift while guests are waiting for photos or the ceremony/reception to start.

#4 Always dream of a wedding or party in a ski lodge? Rent fireplaces and arrange your cocktail hour (party) to feel like old friends hanging around the lodge after a day of skiing and playing in the snow. (Did you say cocoa and s’mores…we hear you!).

#5 As well as the bars, how about something unusual – a hot bar. Stocked with hot cider, cocoa, coffee and tea – and all the extra accompaniments to give it that extra warmth.

#6 After the cake or dessert, an unusual and sweet finishing touch..a mini chocolate fondue? Perhaps a s’mores station or cognac and chocolate pairings!
